Principal - CEO
Jerry is an accomplished Senior Executive and Board Member with more than 35 years of success across the manufacturing, e-commerce, and distribution industries. His broad areas of expertise include acquisitions and integrations, financial management, profit and loss, and organizational leadership. Throughout his executive career, Jerry held leadership positions at HNI Corporation since 1991. He was President of The HON Company and EVP OFM, Inc and MAXON for 10 years and CFO for HNI Corp. for 8 years. He received his B.S. in Accounting and Industrial Administration from Iowa State University, completed the Executive Management Program at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business, and completed the CEO Perspectives at Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management. He is a CPA and CMA. He is, first and foremost, a proud family man and has a strong commitment to his community as well as being involved in several non-profit organizations.
Founding Principal - President
Jay has been a leader in the local commercial furniture industry for over 30 years as the Owner and Principal of Austin Business Furniture since its inception in 1985. Jay oversees all the team members and supports them in fulfilling their individual responsibilities. He reviews all project responses and service commitments, and ensures they are meeting clients’ expectations. Jay’s openness to collaboration and new ideas is what makes his employees and manufacturing partners happy to continue doing business with him.
Austin Business Furniture’s long-standing partnership with HNI, an industry leader, has allowed the business to continue to grow and help further develop relationships in the local business community. His affiliation with KLRU & Austin City Limits began over 20 years ago and is still actively supporting this wonderful cause associated with Austin music and heritage.
Principal - VP Sales and Marketing
Nick was a Non-Commissioned Officer in The United States Army and a Combat Veteran serving in the Middle-East in 2010 and 2011. Upon returning from Afghanistan he enrolled in the University of Iowa and earned his Bachelors in Business Administration and Marketing. His first job in the industry was installing and removing commercial furniture at The University of Iowa while attending school. Nick started with The HON Company in 2012 as a Sales Development Intern. He quickly moved through different areas of the organization and found himself in Houston Texas in 2013 as the Business Development Manager for the SE Texas territory. From there, Nick led teams in Texas and eventually took a job in Atlanta Georgia as the SE Regional Director of Sales at The HON Company. Although his Executive career with HON was just beginning, Nick and his family wanted to be back in Texas. While working for HON, Nick had the opportunity to work closely with team at Austin Business Furniture team and truly felt at home. Austin Business Furniture has an amazing culture, team and reputation. He is excited to be back and is proud to work with the best commercial furniture team in Texas.
Director - Sales Operations
Max was a student-athlete at the University of Iowa where he earned his B.B.A. in Finance and was the team captain for the Men’s Swimming and Diving program. Over the past seven years, Max held multiple business and dealer development positions with companies including John Deere, AECOM, and Under Armour, in which he helped lead new technology adoption and increased profitability efforts at the dealer and corporate level. In 2017, Max graduated from Ohio University with two Master’s degrees in Business Administration and Sports Administration. As Director of Sales Operations, Max is integral to our constant process improvement, which improves our overall customer experience. We are proud to have him on the ABF team.
Bryan has over 25 years in the commercial furniture industry, during which he has served in many different roles that have helped make his experience well rounded. Working closely with Designers and Facilities Managers, he assists his clients with product specification, pricing, and acts as a liaison for the rest of the ABF team. Bryan is a dedicated manager, assisting clients such as McLane Industries, Texas State University and CDR, a Division of Wilsonart. He is dedicated to maintaining customer satisfaction, working directly with our project coordinator to assure a seamless and successful project completion.
Christy has over 22 years in the commercial furniture industry, and has been with ABF since 1999. Starting out as an account manager, she has assisted clients such as Jones Energy, First Texas Honda and Aircheck Labs. Christy has parlayed her experience and close attention to detail into the crucial project management role. She is familiarized with the scope of each project from implementation, and assists the team with customer care and specification reviews along the way. At installation, she acts as liaison between our onsite crew and office support and the client’s project teams. Christy has a gregarious personality and possesses an absolute willingness to help wherever she can.
Scott has been in the Contract Office Furniture Industry since 1993. He has worked on many projects from small to large. He credits most of his business acumen to his growing up in a small town working with his father at the corner drug store. It was here he learned his customer service skills by helping friends and neighbors. This same small town attitude combined with a vast knowledge and experience in the furniture industry has led to successful projects with companies large and small.
Manager of Operations
Adrian began his career with Austin Business Furniture 15 years ago as an installer. He went on to work as a Lead Installer until his promotion to Manager of Operations. His in-depth understanding of the installation process allows him to successfully plan the execution of a project. Adrian is responsible for collaborating with the Project Manager to develop a detailed installation plan for each project. He also plays a key role in the communication with our manufacturers and logistical coordination. His positive demeanor and even-keeled temperament provide a basis for good communication with contractors, subcontracts, and clients.
Rebecca earned her Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from the University of Texas at Austin in 1998. Since then, she has focused on the Austin commercial office furniture industry, affording her a well developed understanding of the dynamic nature of commercial office environments. Additionally, Rebecca is responsible for Marketing design and output for ABF; maintaining a branding package that represents our company’s culture and reflects the industry’s evolving style. Having successfully collaborated on such large local projects as Samsung, IBM Conference Center, Time Warner Cable, City of Leander , and Lexus, she offers the ABF team timely design management, knowledgeable input, and experienced partnership.
Karen earned her Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from The University of Texas at San Antonio in 2013. Prior to her move to Austin Business Furniture, Karen lived and worked in Houston where she gained experience in the healthcare and corporate industry. Karen is skilled in space planning, design presentation and finish & furniture selections. Karen’s tech savvy has made her our resident rendering artist and the creative mind behind our Instagram page(@austinbusinessfurniture)! Those contributions allow us to provide detailed images on presentations and give our work more exposure through social media. Her natural ability to work in a group environment makes collaboration with account managers and clients effortless and successful.
Client Experience Manager
Tom began his career in Muscatine, Iowa at The HON Company, one of our preferred manufacturers. After earning his degree in Marketing at the University of Kansas, he was recruited to the corporate development program at HON. After only one year, he was promoted to transfer to Austin as the Business Development Manager for the South Texas region. As the BDM, he worked with dealers to expand opportunities in the Architecture & Design industry, school districts and universities, and state and local entities. Tom developed a productive working relationship with the folks at ABF, so a transition to our team was a natural and easy next step in his career. As our Client Experience Manager, Tom facilitates order processing, manufacturer communications, customer inquiries, commodity orders, and sales support.
